Tonkinsearch for term

Tonkin Resolution (officially, the Southeast Asia Resolution, Public Law 88-408). Passed by Congress as a joint resolution on August 10, 1964, it authorized the Johnson administration to use military force in Southeast Asia. The resolution was passed in response to military incidents in the Gulf of Tonkin on August 2 and 4, 1964, involving U.S. and North Vietnam naval forces.
