President Nixon: [talking off the line] Tell him it's a private communiqué. Mike will—Mike would prefer it the other way . . . and that we'll fill him in on it, about . . . just a sec. Hello?

Operator: Mr. President, Mr. [Herbert] Klein's en route to Dallas.1

President Nixon: Oh, fine. That's right, just let it go, I'll call him tomorrow.

Operator: All right, thank you.
