President Nixon: Hello.

Operator: [Treasury] Secretary [John B.] Connally∇.

John Connally: Mr. President.

President Nixon: Hello, hi.

Connally: How are you, sir?

President Nixon: Fine, fine.

Connally: I'm sorry to bother you.

President Nixon: It's all right. No problem.

Connally: I need to talk to you for about 10 minutes either this afternoon, either fairly soon or early in the morning, at your convenience. We've got a . . . and I don't mind telling you what it is over the phone. I'd rather come do it in person, but I'll do it either way you wish.

President Nixon: Oh, well, that's all right. That's all right. But . . . fine, fine, where are you now?

Connally: I'm at the office.

President Nixon: Fine. Well, why don't you come over to the residence now [unclear]?

Connally: I'll just come in the diplomatic entrance, then? Is that--”

President Nixon: Yeah, and they'll bring you up to me [unclear].

Connally: And I'll just--”it won't take, I think, 10 minutes. [Unclear.]

President Nixon: I don't care.

Connally: Because--”and I don't mind telling you, so you'll be thinking about it. It's on the parole matter, and I think it's a tough call.

President Nixon: Good, good.

Connally: All right.

President Nixon: You just come over.

Connally: All right. Fine.
