White House Operator: Mrs. [Marjorie P.] Acker, sir.

Marjorie Acker: Hello?

President Nixon: Marje.

Acker: Yes.

President Nixon: And on the copy. . . and this [phone rings] is . . . . this is the copy that I . . . mine as well as theirs but I mean, [unclear]. On page 10 and 11, I want one cut made on the copy you give to him and it would be in the master, too. The last paragraph, “What is being tested,” is to be cut.

Acker: All right.

President Nixon: You got it? “And if we fail in Vietnam . . .” the top paragraph in page 11 is, to be cut.

Acker: All right.

President Nixon: All right.

Acker: OK.
